Autumn

The wind whistles through the autumn leaves

So beautiful hanging onto their powerful trees

The trees which sway to and fro

The wind it has such a powerful blow.

 

The brown, green, yellow and orange

Such amazing autumnal colours

Makes the woods such a magical place

Full of splendour and beauty.

 

The carpet is laid upon the ground

Awaiting the children to run around

Running through the crackling sounds

Of the leaves below their little feet.

 

Oh the joy of their laughter

The smiles on their faces

Such a simple and amazing sight

The trees, and their leaves of autumn.

The random rhyming lines kinda threw this poem off for me. The inconsistency is a little distracting IMO. I am a firm believer in consistent form/ meter unless there is a specific and obvious reason to break from it. It is a lovely poem. A nice capture. I just found myself distracted by the odd rhymes. :)
