Deep Within

Love or Hate?

"Sitting and staring through the clear window

 of this midnight train to nowhere. 

 Glaring into the moonlight diving blind

 into thoughts that phase me out.

 Again words echo 'I love you'

 from her for they remain silent. 

 In my heart it swirls a hidden tragedy 

 melodies play unknown messages.

 Mistakes we all make but i left one 

 standing with nothing to say.

 Hope slips its way into my soul

 breaking the moment of release.

 I walk in this sorted darkness waded broken 

 grasping the last breath of sorrow.

 Folding my shirt i reconsider the facts

 with the hand print of her on it.

 Inked in red wine the evidence 

 that hoping can be a sign.

 Gravity from the last kiss forces imagination

 crossing into another fantasy world with her.

  

 It seems so real after that moment in time

 but still the train rolls on without her.

 The choice to remain there held her

 within the look of forgive me please.

 And some how i simply hate myself 

 for not stopping the train to get her.

 At least to tell her i loved every moment

 and deep within eternity i must step back.

 For what? A moment with love

 or the second of hating to let go...again."

I thoroughly enjoyed this - well written! I suppose each of us has one love that we've let slip by us for one reason or another. I think many of your readers can relate to this to some degree. True, heartfelt, deep love is hard to get past and even harder to let go when certain circumstances surround us preventing a relationship to be realized fully and appreciated for all that type of relationship has to offer.
