The Never

The Never

A Poem by Jason Shadows
"

Racing the nothing to be something.

"
"Caught onto the ledge of immortality
I believe with such sacrifice can remain.

(You)

Looking up to the white doves flying
I see red drops linger on my fingers away.

(Can)

Run into the wilds again with focus
I follow the misleading shadow into the dark.

(Feel)

The deep breathe I race with the cold
among'st the colorless face of hatred.

(Alive)

Leaping into this abyss I render my life
for a chance to be/see you smiling...

(Again)

In the rising sun light I'm dying again
so you can see what type of shadow...I am."

I really like this format. You have highlighted the message . To live again but the trappings of this message is grief wrapped enlightenment.
Excellent exacution.

Unlike any other poem I have read. The reason I say this is because I've never seen anyone else use words in parentheses between groups of stanzas. The five words together even make a whole sentence. Indeed this piece has many interesting and surreal outlets, from the title, to the description, to the words. It's amazing what kind of words result when one has been lurking in the shadows for too long.

Your descriptive language is very meaningful and quite epic. There is a bit of unraveling to do, which I love to do while reading a poem.

I also give you credit for the font usage, and the lingering dots you have going on. It added an excellent effect to the piece to match with its eeriness.

Thank you for sharing!
