Twenty One Shots

Under the stone to the solid core of desperation
Fingers crossed and lips curled tight

Busy is the bee of anxiety and hopelessness

Why falter when the ribbon is so near

Has fear consumed you?

Has it cut off your feet and buried your absent mind?

No need for the relief it can’t help you this time

No tears will be shed and no whisper for you

Your time has come so now you must choose

To skip or to slide

To run or to hide

The walls have moved in or is it just in your mind

The demons are laughing for your stomachs in a knot

You knew this was coming when you took that last shot

The blood is thin and the lungs slowing down

Why stop now, you’ll anger the crowd

Its pitter and cold and sharp to the lips

Now the room is spinning, good going kid

You should have stopped, I’m not to blame

Because now your goner, a hunter for fame
