Ashes to Ashes

Ashes to Ashes

A Chapter by Jason

Her swollen eyes fell steadily upon the grey ashes around her

Her hair a tangled flame of velvet beauty

She was speechless to the cries that echoed around her

Lost and confused she swayed through the fields of ash awaiting a sign of understanding

The smoke blinded her and the toxins ate at her skin

Her lustful beauty was tempting amongst the naked world

A tear fell humbly from her blood shot eyes smudging the residue from her cheek

As it made its care free dive to the earths burnt crust she gasped

Where the tear had fallen a single flower stood

It was weak and beginning to wither

The fair maiden fell upon her knees and caressed the dying flower

She felt its pain through her finger tips

Why? It asked in a whisper

Why has the world fallen and the rivers run dry?

Her stomach twisted and she became ill as the words spilled from her dry lips

Man Kind she whispered

All became silent then as the sun started to fall

She took one last glance at the world’s giant scar

As she drifted into dream of rivers and mountain she too became ash

Alas all is forgotten
