StargazingA Poem by Jonathan HewittAn original I wrote, thank you for reading
I have always wanted to go stargazing
To look up and see the remote past blazing To be bathed in the light of distant yearnings To forget and wash away inner churnings I have always wanted to fly deep in love To find a nebula of kisses above To be in heaven, immersed in x-ray sight To float in rapture, the distant future bright I have never wanted to be so heartsick To be captured in space-time's quicksand fabric To sink in the gravity of your gorgeous gaze To be lost in your universe, your mind, your maze I have never wanted to tread the sun's surface To plummet towards a star; no control, no purchase To melt in the solar flares of your subtle smiles To burn in empathic sorrow for your trials I have always wanted to go stargazing But now to stay grounded, safe from soul razing To gaze from afar upon cosmic wonders To count the stars and drift towards wishless slumbers © 2018 Jonathan Hewitt |
