Shades Of Grey

Shades Of Grey

A Poem by Robert Luna
"

No description needed

"
I am a halfbreed
man and ghostly being
Appearing alive
but traveling in the world of the dead

As thousands of unheard voices
scream Help Me
Filling my dreams
with horrifying and haunting scenes
Things I wish I had never seen

Is this a blessing or a curse
That is yet to be seen

This world is not black and white
as I know
I dwell in lonely shades of gray
That place between what is seen
and those things that fill your dreams

As I wonder why me
I lack what others call
Traditional faith
Believing in destiny and fate

But yet night after night
day after day
I am plagued
Seeing ghostly things

So you can call me a freak
Even a liar if you choose
but this is my cross to bear
I wouldnt wish this on any of you

This is a seriously introspective work. Your sense of expression is always dynamic. I am tired, so articulation for me is at a minimum, but I wanted to say that I relate to much of what you wrote about yourself... although I stopped asking why a long time ago. Thank you for these thoughts. Something to meditate on.

I could sympathize with you my friend,All of your poetry I've read so far is extremely well written, this is one of my favorites though,of course I've only read a few.The sounds of the hell we all have created are unpleasent..I'm not speaking from a religious view...Another well written piece..

Honest write, and you hit on some powerful stuff here! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this...twice over. You are definately not alone in this transient place you write of-- being an artist, you are aware of spaces beyond the "black and white." (perhaps all too aware!) I understand you not wishing this on anyone, I believe there are many however, that already exist here as you do. Thank you for this write-- it cheers me to know there are kindred spirits in plenty! :) (and you penned it beautifully)

I love this.....it captures the surrealiality (yes, it's not a real word, but it says what I mean) of isolation and wondering where I belong...and even if I sort-of belong, is this even real, am I even here, cause it all seems so much like a really bad dream...in fact a nightmare.

I also feel a willingness to bear the burden for others...powerful !!

You are NOT a freak; you are NOT a liar. I call that time the twilight time; the time between waking and sleeping; the time when the voices speak the strongest; when the shroud seems thinnest and the clues from one world and time almost solidify into this one. I believe you and I understand.
You are brave to write such a personal piece on a controversial subject.
Thank you for standing up and speaking out. I have spent several nights in my life shivering under bedclothes and telling spirits to leave me alone.

Your thoughts are amazing and your expression is striking but harmonious, balanced and enshrouding.
This is a great piece. It surely has a special place in my library.
Congratulations for reaching the first place in the top writings.

i agree with E.M. it is very introspective and has a nice touch of gray..incidentally i was listening to touch of gray by the grateful dead earlier so i was interested in the title name..lol
shades of gray indeed

Wow. I think we all go through this kind of stage, living in a shade of grey. And yet, you describe to us readers that you bear a burden that not many of us have the experience of living with, whether metaphorically or literally, and many couldn't describe in such a poetic way. Very well written, I love it!

This speaks to me. I've always felt mentally I'm trapped between the living and the dead, not a ghost, but not flesh. A transient spirit so to speak. This poem eloquently captures the feelings of one whose only feeling is fear and sorrow, but is strong enough to deal with these emotions because he has accepted them and the situation. There's a lot I could say but I've got to go to work, so excellent piece and I look forward to many more just like it.

Cool. i enjoy its simplicity, which works in contrast to the subject mater!

Wow, I truly loved this piece, man! And believe me, I know just where you're coming from, as I've seen ghost and other unearthly things for the whole of my existence. As a child it was insanely scary, but as you growing-up with it... it just becomes your lot in life. Great write, Robert!
