Perhaps

Perhaps

A Poem by Robert Luna
"

Not sure just something that came to me. I hope you enjoy

"

I'd like to believe the best of me
is yet to been seen
Reading a sign that reads
“Welcome to the real world
enjoy all it will bring”

Falling over myself trying to breath
Landing upon my hands and knees
I now know what it means
Finding myself falling in love with the broken people
from broken places, broken families, just like me
Scarred and feeling incomplete
All the ugliness that comes together
to make this a beautiful place

Realizing it’s all make believe and fairy tales
This real world is meant for someone else
maybe the beautiful and rich
But not me
As we rest with the rest of restless
Their insecurities concealed by pride
will be there down fall
Is what a passing dog
whispers condescendingly

Having a near death experience
seeing my reflection gazing at me
Wondering what the f**k am I doing here
a malice truth unfolding
right there in front of me
This place is a lie, no happily ever after
Just making the most out of what we have
Chasing rainbows and blue skies

Knowing I am living on borrowed time
I lace my Chucks up extra tight
I be damned if I go down without a fight
I struggle on because
I like to believe the best of me
is yet to been seen
There is still so much
that hasn’t been written
In this unfinished novel
known as me

Humanbeings will always be incomplete for as long as they live because we constantly evolve in our thoughts. One day's truth may fall short of reality the next, attitudes change and mature, circumstances set us back- we are always changing right until the day that we die. We should not live with the pretention that Life should be a bowl of cherries, but nor should we surrender that we cannot gain what we want most in life. It's all up to us You observe your circumstances, look for opportunities (or generate them) and work towards your goals. I often say that we are dealt a hand in life and the outcome depends on how we play out that hand- it's as random and as malleable as that.

Yes we should strive everyday to do our best no matter what we have already done in the past. It's not the exterior of a place that makes it ugly or pretty it's the people that inhabit it, when they stand side by side it's a beautiful sight but when it's every man for themselves the dark of humanity will make the biggest mansion dreary... Another powerful piece that make us stop and look at our lives and who we are.

I read this at the best time that I could, I need this, the inspiration of better days to come. I try to remind myself that, and that I belong and that I am needed loved wanted. Seems like the days get tougher lately. I thank you for the read and the inspiration.

The words here speak of hope and to never give up. You give such an visual picture here. I think they have no idea to all that you are capable of.

This is great !! If they could see you now !! I've often thought about that......what would some people think if they could see me now.

Great words of hope and encouragement !!

I can't help but be jealous of the beauty and creative work you share with your readers that comes out of your mind. I'm only 18 right now and I don't even want to think about growing old and being dumped into the real world just yet. If only we could all remain toys r us kids...haha.

You have such truth in your words, and it always amazes me what you can create, Robert. Thank you for sharing this with me.

Side note: you are one of my favorites, since joining the cafe. The rumors are true, you are one hell of a poet. =)

"I'd like to believe the best of me
is yet to been seen"

Those first words are a siren to every one of us, reminding us to always strive to better ourselves.

"...All the ugliness that comes together
to make this a beautiful place"

Those words are a great truth, very positive as they remind us it doesn't matter who we are or what we've been through, no matter how ugly it's been, we all make this a beautiful place.

Another excellent, inspiring poem spoken so wonderfully frank and true.
Well done!!!

So much I could say here, being a "broken one" myself and finally coming to terms with it and finally accepting it as a good thing in many, many respects. You have the ability to reach others that most cannot, Robert. I believe you carry this because you have a deep understanding even an ability to relate to others that have either saw better days or hope to. I'm proud to call you friend and it's a privilege to read your words, I really mean that.

Actually, I've been thinking about the same thing lately, sort of. I'll show you what I've written about it but my piece will never see the light of day. LOL Some things just aren't meant to be out there.

Wonderful and inspiring write!

I like how you deal with such unpleasant unpopular topics, you always make the shaddy things shine for me, and see them with a loving eye.
Hm, this was touching:
"Falling over myself trying to breath
Landing upon my hands and knees
I now know what it means
Finding myself falling in love with the broken people
from broken places, broken families, just like me "
and this

"Knowing I am living on borrowed time
I lace my Chucks up extra tight
I be damned if I go down without a fight
I struggle on because
I like to believe the best of me " ----------------------------- yes all for a mastership in life, travelling from the danger to angst and the excitement to do it better. Well done!

I enjoyed this, Robert. I actually wrote something just recently with a similiar message in my Goodbye Neverland. I think we're all a little afraid to wake up and escape childhood before we get dumped and have to deal with the real world --that means growing up. It's a shame there is no magic pill or something to keep us where we want to be in time.

Great write, this is a favorite!
