Loneliness

Loneliness

A Poem by Jennie Baron

Little disturbs the silence of my solitude

As loneliness engulfs me

As visible, as palpable

as any fog anyone ever saw.

It soaks into my soul;

It distorts and clouds my vision.

I can't see people and things.

I can't see life clearly, realistically.

Loneliness constrains me

and prevents others from seeing me.

Sometimes, sometimes the sun of another's kindness,

Of a kindness I have done to them, burns through

And surely as the sun will rise tomorrow,

I know it will again.

But tonight--tonight's a chilly, gloomy night.

I find no comfort or warmth.

You did a very good job summing up the feelin gof loneliness. My favorite parts are these:
1. Sometimes, sometimes the sun of another's kindness,
Of a kindness I have done to them, burns through
2. It soaks into my soul;
It distorts and clouds my vision.

A time a solitude help us to reflect and meditate, however, long time in solitude causes what you expressed well. It soaks into our souls and our visions of reality become distorted.

Thanks very much, Hobbit. Your words are much appreciated!
I have been lonely... I understand a little of what you say.
I have also been taught to be alone and not feel lonely. After all, we are never really alone, are we?

I think it is good to open the gate to these emotions and let them purge onto the page of poetic expressions. Your poem may be the ray of sunlight entering another person's lonely world.

I enjoyed your write.

I hope someone who is lonely can find some meaning in it. That's what makes it all worthwhile!
Very well filled imagery and I felt it creak with every word. Excellent write!!
