Platinum Skies

Platinum Skies

A Poem by Jennie Baron

My mood is as flat as the platinum skies

Of this overcast March day.

But it’s merely flat, not sad.

Only momentarily uninspired.

I laugh at myself;

What colors did I expect, chartreuse and fuchsia?

It’s restful, meditative.

Already traces of green dot the brown grass

Outside my window

And tiny, fragile buds on the trees

Hint at the spring soon to come

And so I’m hopeful and expectant.

"Platinum Skies"
Jennie Baron,
Just periods or seasons, like dormancy waiting to bloom...inspiration feels that way.

Yes, I sure can identify with the theme in this poem of yours.
Yet here it comes...inspiration.
I liked this one a great deal!

Thanks very much, Marvin, and good to hear from you again after so long.
not sad, just flat....i have had those moods often in the past and everyone keeps asking what's wrong...nothing really, just a lack of excitement about life...and sometimes when i am not writing for a period of time, i get that same feeling.

but i know that spring will come again, and the flowers, trees and my pen will bloom once again.

love this...don't know why i missed it first time around...glad Sami, brought it back up.

Yep. Been on a break. You are welcome...:)...................
Very nice piece of work here. I love the way you ended it with a hope for spring. As we all know, spring is a symbol of a new beginning, brighter days to come and so many more positive things such as hope. And everyone needs hope. Cause hope is what keeps up going long enough for spring to come.
Keep up the good work. Stay inspired.

I like the differentiation between flat and sad. My favorite line is "only momentarily uninspired". I was able to relate to this poem. Thank you for sharing :)
