Yes, Life's Quite an Adventure

Yes, Life's Quite an Adventure

A Poem by Jennie Baron
"

This is my effort at creating a poem from song titles of one band, namely Yes.

"

If you take a (roundabout) route

To the (heart of the sunrise)

And find yourself on the (south side of the sky)

(Yours is no disgrace).
(I’ve seen all good people) lose their way

And when they ask directions

Get only a (long distance runaround).

You may even find a kindred spirit

To accompany you on that road

And you won’t be the (owner of a lonely heart)

Because (love will find a way) somehow;

It always does.

If not, (hold on).

Whatever happens, surely at the end of the journey

We’ll have (wondrous stories) to tell.

(And you and I) will drink and laugh

And tell all our tales

Like (starship troopers)

Returned from adventures on distant worlds.

A rather cool exercise, and it turned out well. I found some of those songs playing in my head when I read the title.

Thanks much! It's great to write something that has that effect on the reader.
Very creative, Jennie. A little bit of Yes, some Journey, and a few more for good measure. This is wonderful way to showcase your love of music, and of the written word as it pertains to poetic expressionism.

Well done!

Terrific! What a chore this must have been to construct a great poem from "Yes" titles. (Who is one of my most favorite bands of all time.)

I think this is really good, and does not feel forced at all, like some poems of this type might be. I would, however, in terms of form, change the parentheses to italics.
