Maple syrup

Maple syrup

A Poem by Jennifer M.

Your words drip thick

with sugar-coated syllables

offering promises and notions

you have no intention to keep.

Your gaze burns heavy

like sunfire rays and the

stars turn away to hide

from the flames in your heart.

Your eyes claim the lies that

your tongue spits like fire but

everyone can see past your

maple-syrup grin and the

passion in your eyes.

Your masquerade of dishonesty

could never hide the truth

that lies deep beneath

that beautiful emerald gaze.
