Sunset Strangers

Sunset Strangers

A Poem by Jennesis

Driving away from the stress of the day

The setting sun, brilliant in yellows, purples and pinks

Beckoned me as it burned off the last remaining light

The intense beauty of this display compelled my spirit to slow down, breathe, and give pause

Normally eager to be home and stripped of my work attire

Snuggled into comfy clothes, tonight...

I listened

To the pull,

Gently veering over the car

I stopped

Marveling in the beauty of the moment

Bathing in the gratitude of  blessings

I noticed

Joining in my pause were eight other people

who stopped too

Taking in the brilliant beauty of today's end

My heart swelled as we silently shared this moment

Allowing the sky's colors to fill us each up

Somehow, in some way.

As the colors slowly faded

Dusk gently kissing the sky

One by one the cars peeled away

Each of us going our respective ways...

I am reminded

That beauty truly is everywhere~

In the simple moments of

Eight strangers joined together

Witnessing the passing of another day

Indeed a gentle and beautiful piece that entreats us all to stop and smell the roses!

You are most welcome.
' As the colors slowly faded ~~ Dusk gently kissing the sky.. ' such lovely phrasing and so very visual. Your words are life as it should be: tiredness and stress diluted by such gentle yet strangely invigorating scenes - unexpected yet glorious.

And, what's more, shared by others whose lives, different from yours more than likely, move on and away for home, refreshed, relaxed - maybe altered in mood, happier than minutes before.

Your words are a touch of '.. stopping to smell the roses is Nature's gift to the saddest of hearts. '
Thank you for sighing me calmer than..

my pleasure
You all saw something much bigger and more beautiful than the stress that you thought overtook you. Sunsets can show the beauty of earth to those that stop to see it.

Thanks Relic. Certainly an amazing experience
Whoa, beautiful words and story, not to mention the title, all of it was amazing to read!
"Taking in the brilliant beauty of today's end," was a great way of putting it. As if the credits came up afterward. :) The way you wrote it all made it read like a real experience, which I'm sure it was in one way or the other.

You're most welcome. So happy for you! :)
This is one of the highlights of life. when several come together to witness true unadulterated beauty. when a day passes with others. Excellently formed.

Thanks so much Ken~
i wish this moment came much more often...when more people would just stop and enjoy a beautiful sunset...normally a beautiful sunset just reminds most of us that we have to be somewhere in a short matter of time....

nicely done.
