Time

All is a slave to it, there is no escape
A foe that you cannot defeat, a villain with a cape

It can strengthen or make weak, all in it's path
it can heal or make sick, never incur it's wrath

All things it devours; humans, beasts, trees and flowers
It gnaws iron, bites steel
Elevate mountains and grinds stone for meal

It run and jumps and dives
and sometimes it just sits
Like a mighty eagle it flies
it picks the role it fits

Time is this "it" we're talking about
It can't be stopped or trapped
Like a silent crusader, a mystery scout
Once your countdown is up your life is wrapped

We're all given a portion of it
though some faster and on high pace;
A job, wealth and kids that are fit
But don't worry, life is not a frantic race

We all want to live in the highway rhyme
Enjoying life's blissful depth
But if you use another man's time
You'll end up dying another man's death.

Very true words, Jerry.

Time is so important to our lives. It does do all those things you have poetically reflected on; but no matter how much we rue it's effects on us and our surrounds we all deep down really do want MORE time. For as you said, once that time is up, we are wrapped. And who knows what lies thereafter? Maybe there truly will be no more time at all.

A very reflectively written poem. One that we all can relate to and do indeed ponder on. Nice work.
