Dearly Departed

Dearly Departed

A Poem by ThoughtsOfANemoFish

To this day, my friend, I still cannot forgive you.

Time will tell? You did not..

"One day," you swore, a promise broken.

Never did I see your face again.

When you took my hand,

When you took my heart,

'Til Death do us part,

I simply went astray,

In love, passion, devotion,

And you left me standing there,

Shirtless in the rain.

My knowledge of your soul,

Was that of those simply departed.

But no? My soul screamed.

She screamed and screamed and screamed.

Sitting in the corner, hysterical with grief,

No wonder no one heard her!

Engulfed in a lie,

She was always alone.

And now you return, worthless and lost.

No one else to turn to?

Well sweetheart, you'll find, I have moved on,

And now I am the one to desert you.

You curse and protest,

I tried my very best,

Not to return the negativity.

Because to speak ill of the dead,

Is cowardice.
