The Grey Room

The Grey Room

A Poem by Jesse Booker

Come on in, you're welcome here
If you're grey like all the rest
There are no colors to be found
Leave them behind to be our guest

Your anger gives you a red hue
These meds I have may be for you
What you need is a touch of grey
To help you make it through the day

You look yellow when your hair gets long
Let me show you why you're wrong
You'll be happy like the rest
With a look that becomes our guest

Freedom of thought? Not in here
Lest you have nothing to fear
We cannot abide by you
When your thoughts make you turn blue

Woe is me! Is that pink I see?
You surely need some therapy
Not to worry, it's just a phase
You can't truly be THAT way

Just spend some time in here with me
We'll keep you safe from wicked green
Just give up all your rights to us
To keep you safe, it is a must!

Come on in and take a seat
I'll teach you all you need to know
What is good and what is sin
In the grey room, we'll begin

Wow this is amazing! I love how you incorporated the colours into this and I love the idea of a grey room. I got the feeling of the grey room being like society and how people tell you to act and how to be? Another idea was the grey room maybe being a religion, I thought Christianity, especially how they look negatively on homosexuality I sensed? This poem is beautiful and represents how others try and take away identity and individuality- I loved it!
