Tattooed?

Tattooed?

A Poem by Jessica Gillitzer
"

I am going to go get a tattoo soon so I thought I would write out my anxieties with the idea, and give it a little humor.

"

I sit in fear,

the dangerous idea ever so near.

I sit in wait,

I imagine the artist wielding this paint brush,

must be a creature of unspeakable hate.

Inflicting such pain.

Oh, this flower he now stains.

But I must remember I begged,

I paid,

and I sit in this chair plainly inane.

Surely I’m insane.

What has gone wrong between my mouth,

my actions,

and my brain.

This flower destined to bloom,

in such a creepy room,

But beauty is in the attitude…

Isn’t that why I came to get...

a tattoo?!

Awww I think you need to find a new artist! Great imagery, but getting tattooed has always been a pretty positive experience for me, haha. Sure there's a little pain involved but the creepy room and the idea of a masochistic artist? It gets a lot better than that!

thanks for the memories...goes to show a poet can find a poem whatever they're looking at and wherever they can find a seat...i got my first tatoo when i was thirteen years old on the boardwalk in long beach, ca...cost me four bucks to get a top-hatted skull smoking a cigar decorating my inner forearm...thought it would make me a man...now all these decades later it stares back at me and i'm still wondering what it means to be a man...i'm sure your flower is beautiful, and your poem had me smiling sadly

Well see then nothin wrong with a few little kisses I guess...!
Aside from a few little bumps along the way, i.e. grammatically....this poem is an emotional journey. It takes you inside your mind and expresses the trepidation and also (hidden) excitement? at getting a tattoo....
I also have felt like this at times, and still think about getting a tattoo at times...
go for it, and let us know what you went for in the end...:)

I remember my first. Such a permanent thing it had to mean something. Should always mean something. I liked the pain, it was a reminder of what it meant to me. Good poem, it represents all that you were feeling and it does just that. Keep it up.

In expressing your anxieties you have released an emotion most could relate to in other aspects of life... Such as surgery (I've been there)...

Nice write. :)

Very nice,
You are so creative, in the many times I have gotten tattooed, never one did it come to mind like this and with such art in regards to an art itself. I love this and think it says a lot about the girl behind the ink to come. You'll do great, it sounds like you have already been to a parlor before with your descriptions. Let us know?

"i imagine the artist wielding this paint "

I need be capitalized and I also love this idea about viewing the tattoo artist. You are a natural.
Sincerely
Christopher
