So What's So Bad

So What's So Bad

A Poem by Katie Foutz Voss
"

for somebody's someone.

"
You're the backseat laughter,
you're the baby with no reason to cry,
you're the band and the bass drum,
the little yellow bird that
wants so badly to believe that she
is black.

So what's
so bad
about being golden?
You love to love and would
love to be loved and would
give just to give because
it's what the optimist does.

And you love to love and
would loved to be loved but
you love everybody but yourself.

So what's
so bad
about being realistic?
You're the smile on someone's face,
you're the song on someone's lips,
you're a starlit stroll,
you're an early spring,
you're the beat of the band,
worth a crowd with clapping hands.
You are someone,
you are someone
and you are someone's everything.

A beautiful idea beautifully executed! I want to leave a really useful review here, but all I feel like I can do is sit there saying "perfect" and "wow". I can't even pick a couple of favourite lines, really, because I love the whole darn thing.
