Here I Sit Again

Here again I sit
I ponder
This could be it
Should I jump, I wonder
My throne albeit once full of hate
It lies in in the ruins of my mistakes
One single moment, one precise date
That’s all the evil needs, that’s all that it takes
A sign of good in us
It seeks it out, it seeps it away
It leaves us, filled with distrust
It leaves us crying, begging to make it through another day
Sometimes we fail
Sometimes we almost push our mortal bounds
Sometimes we take take a single iron nail
We dig it in our arms, write a letter, to be read if we are found
These moments define us, define whats in our soul
Sometimes we have the strength to let our own blood spill
Then sometimes we know, our death is just the apex of this hole
An endless river of sorrow will flow down our body, beyond this hill
So we stay alive
We endure the hurt, the pain, the misery
Somehow, we struggle, but somehow, we survive
Just dreaming, of the day we are free
From not only our mortal shackle
But our mistakes, our deepest regrets
I look to the past, times I used to cackle
Now, that humor I just don’t get
Deathly and morbid
My humor is sick
Maybe solely for this reason, my soul into the heavens has been forbid
He wants me to beg for redemption, that is to be his final trick
