Mr. Celebrity

Mr. Celebrity

A Poem by Jjacks
"

Narrative song inspired by a novel I am working on.

"

It was a chance
Merely happenstance
That you walked into my world

A nefarious game
Of conquest and love, the same
And my heart was unfurled

Now my heard resides in anonymity
Trapped in curiosity
The crux of the matter

Will I ever be? Back to normality?
Or stuck in between celebrity and reality...
chosing the former or the latter?

I must abjure the pleasure of your company,
Mr. Celebrity
I will  deny this magnetic chemistry
Mr. Celebrity
I prefer my Anonymity.

The apenglow of the Hollywood Hills
It thrills and chills
 Me to the core
I’m so unsure

Is this the life for me?
Filled with abundance of money
But it does not come free
I pay the price of privacy
And the lack leaves my soul incomplete.

Do I ask you to walk away?
Away from me? Or the celebrity?
Or can I live with you and this insanity?

I must abjure the pleasure of your company,
Mr. Celebrity
I will  deny this magnetic chemistry
Mr. Celebrity…
I prefer my Anonymity.

I turn my face from you
I’m scared to death to say the truth
That I’m scared to death of being without you
But I know I can live without you

My heart is capacious
But my brain has trepidations
And I cannot make sense of it all

The paparazzi of the world
Prevent me from being your girl
As I make my way to the curtain call

I must abjure the pleasure of your company,
Mr. Celebrity
I will  deny this magnetic chemistry
Mr. Celebrity…
I prefer my Anonymity.

Though you’ve cosseted me
With gifts and luxuries
The pour out of your hands

I can see through the insecurity
I can't save you; I will not set you free
You must be a man

I must abjure the pleasure of your company,
Mr. Celebrity
I will  deny this magnetic chemistry
Mr. Celebrity…
I prefer my Anonymity.

This is the life you’ve chosen, not the one for me
