The First Rain

The First Rain

A Poem by Jacob Mahurien
"

The First Rain of the Season

"

  Drip.

        Drop.

Drip.

      Drop.

The rain fell like mist,                                   Drip.

On the leafy loam.              Drop

Drip,

        Drop,

Drip,

        Drop.

The first rain -drip- fall

Of the season of Persephone.                Drop.

-Drip,

       -Drop,

-Drop,

       -Drip.

Drop.

The thirst earth drinks, drip

And is quenched, -drop-

Drop,

    Drip,

Drip

     Drip

Drop
