Innocent X

I

X is a singularity
For has no truck with family.

The angle and the tilt of nose
Has no effect on what it blows.

The shape and colour of the eyes
Have no effect on what they size.

The features set in a round face
Would not another X disgrace.

The words exhaled from blank with mouth
Send the same soldiers north and south.

II

How can we sum the mighty err?
Funny, comic and peculiar.

Strange, incident, the dogs just sigh
To hear the words that always lie.

The monkey laughs, for when they spoke
They always seemed to tell a joke.

Next year, last year, or maybe now,
The sheep will take the place of cow.

To leave the path and find their way
Necessitates they disobey.
