Strong Weak hands

Strong Weak hands

A Poem by J. Obonyo
"

Just some little obsession with the tenderness of my beloved, and the beautiful firmness underneath.....as I waited to walk down the aisle

"
STRONG WEAK HANDS
Soft and tender,
weak and fragile are these hands.
Yeah, Warm and calm,
cool and quiet is their possessor.
They catch me, hold and confuse me.
They mix me up.
They scare me with a beautiful scare.
They hit me with an awesome fear.
They terrify me with some comforting terror.
They cause a meaningless complaint.

These hands have loud silence.
Their weakness is so tough, and their softness so strong.
These hands foretell.
Their texture predicts. Their weakness foreshows, and their beauty inscribes a seal to the deal…..

These hands, oh, what’s in these hands?

This is a very thoughtful and beautifully expressed poem on how opposites are needed to complete the whole. Using the idea of hands as a metaphor to express the qualities of your wife to be works really well.
You might be interested that just before we were married (many years ago) we visited Kenya and spent a night in Kisumu. We had no accommodation arranged so we were very kindly invited to use a room at a convent. It was a very memorable holiday!
All the best,
Alan
