A Hero's Destruction

A Hero's Destruction

A Chapter by Jong Schrijver

The hero of the people

Blood shown in his eyes

Despite his efforts and his tries

He was slain without a thought.

The memory stung his followers

A plan so well thought out

In their hero, they had no doubt

Yet he was killed quite swiftly.

He had arrived to do the deed

And bring the tyrant to his fate

He came early, prepared to wait

But then he stepped between the shadows.

He looked and he searched

For the horrible, unholy man

At the sound of bullets he ran

But he made it only as far as a dead man can.

That day it was a gruesome one

But now the writings are all lost

But the memories can't be tossed.

They can't erase everything.

Corruption loomed everywhere

And the deceit was enough to stun

A hero's life ended by a gun

The trigger pressed by his widow.
