A Child's Grief

A Child's Grief

A Story by Jordan
"

A child loses her grandmother and a healer tries to ease her pain..

"
Orange leaves gently fall from the trees, drifting like confetti upon the ground. One leaf gently spins, landing upon my foot.
I glance down at the child leaning back against me, feeling her sadness and loneliness. She feels my gaze and raises her light blue eyes to my dark brown ones and I see the tears. I crouch and she flings herself into my arms, clinging to me, crying softly. I rock her gently, as I sigh softly and send energy into her, soothing her grief and sorrow.
She slowly calms and turns back to her grandmother being lowered into the red earth. She presses back against me, and I give her my strength, as my heart, hidden from her, breaks at this poor child's sorrow.
