A Rebirth

A Rebirth

A Poem by Jordan

Burning, fire alighting my skin and hair
Smoke is everywhere
My screams of pain fill the air....

Suddenly, silence descends.
A pin could drop and it would echo painfully.
Then, an explosion of light fills the silence.

Sitting up, unsure of where I am,
My skin is softer and new;
My hair is longer and thicker.

I look up as he stands over me and he smiles down at me.
Offering his hand, I rise, unsteady and unsure.
He leans me into him, and slowly reintroduces me
After this painful and unforgettable rebirth.
