Metronome

Metronome

A Poem by Josh Anderson

I used my heart to make a metronome
A rhythm standing on it's own
And in the end I never heard at all
Just silence echoing down the hall

Back and forth goes to the steady beat
One and two, love and hate, then repeat
Lost and found in the eyes of yesterday
But between now and then I've already begun to change

I used my memories to make the fire rise
Until the flames reached heaven in the skies
A kingdom in the clouds I cannot see
But maybe the one not looking hard enough is me
