The Dove And The Shadow

The Dove And The Shadow

A Poem by Y.F.
"

A story of a beautiful friendship and more.

"
A blown kiss from the heavens,
came down to peck my cheek,
a single white dove
to a shadow of a man.

I gave her my protection,
me she gave her comfort,
hidden smiles and thoughts
of things which are just nature.

Sun rays led her to my arms,
to rest her tired wings,
now she is long gone -
she flew off to build her nest.

This bird will stay forever
a part of who I am,
part of what I've been,
just before I fade away.

aww, this is lovely, so wistful... i can see why you recommended it to me - i'm such a hopeless romantic at heart. ;) the title of the poem itself is so evocative, it kind of rolls off your tongue with its symmetry... and the imagery of the line 'sun rays led her to my arms to rest her tired wings' - so beautiful. great job.

I like this poem. Sort of a sadness and peaceful poem. I like the beginning. Description left many openings for thought. A outstanding poem. Thank you.
