Math Teachers never told us....

Math Teachers never told us....

A Poem by Judy Ponceby

The area of a circle is determined
by how many slices of pi
have been eaten by the local natives.

The square root of a turnip is a kohlrabi.

The distance between the sine waves
is directly correlated to the happiness of the surfer.

Passing calculus has always been
a difficult painful process, requiring
fortitude and a strainer.

Odd how the even numbers seem so much rounder.

The means of multiplication are variable
and can result in exponential breeding practices.

A triangle's tangent is determined
by the amount of wandering it does.

Hah!! clever word play here :D You did this really well; I really doubt that I could have thought of this many unique examples :) Humorous and clever. Very nice :)
It's also funny because you used some examples that are sometimes actually used in story problems related to these areas of math; it made me giggle :)

This is brilliant. I was actually laughing aloud (much to the alarm of the people in the front room)

This is wonderful Judy. I was lost as soon as they started mixing letters with numbers....you are funny!

Oh, this was so clever and hilarious, Judy!! Especially to an old math/geometry geek like myself. Well done, lass!

This is very clever--and great fun! Another facet of the jewel that is Judy.

The many things we must learn outside of school. I like the logic of your poem.
"The distance between the sine waves
is directly correlated to the happiness of the surfer."
The complete poem was fun and entertaining to read. Most of us learn the truth and the real facts of life when we wander into the world to really figure things out. A excellent poem. Thank you.
