Dare You Enter?

Dare You Enter?

A Poem by Judy Ponceby

The burnished gleam
of a door knob
beckons the curious
closer.

Near enough
to peer through
the keyhole

Where a glimpse
of otherworlds
both fantastic
and frightful
await.

Dare they turn
the knob and enter?
Or forever remain
among the unknowing?

Such a tempting poem .. shall you, shan't you .. a tease yet a dare! Judy, your words are like gems, they sort of gently nudge a reader into thinking thoughts that hadn't entered their heads seconds before. Here you've almost laid temptation on the way, or a gentle push into something unknown but wonderful.

So very tempting...

But I will admit, it leaves a taste of unfinished business. This could very well have been the trailer to a story/novel...

I so much want to see behind the door... :)

Succinct and straightforward. Quite possibly your best, Judy.

life is a gamble anyway. I'll stake my life on knowing what the door conceals

I could most certainly relate... in time that question will be answered...it's the wondering that can kill us...xx

Sounds like my ex-wife's bedroom. And just so the men out there know, unless you have the physical conditioning of a marathon runner, it's best to "remain among the unknowing."
Despite my unfortunate reference, this is a classy poem--ambiguous enough to imply many things; specific enough to stand on its own.
Maintaining the quality, Judy.

Great poem of temptation, the whats on the other side of the door would get the better of me, but I would leave it open just in case I needed to make a quick get away!

Excellent1 Love the suspense, I'm wondering what's behind the door.

Captivating! Suddenly, I'm pondering whether this has to do with the unknowns of decisions or possibly getting to know another person or... Exceptional work!
