remember as a child

remember as a child

A Poem by prachi prangya agasti
"

we always miss the childhood, its innocence and simplicity

"

Being a small kid

When I first saw the rain

I danced in delight

The sweet smell of the wet earth

The silver drops falling

I ran and splashed

Unfortunately I learnt of clouds

And amazement disappeared

When I saw rainbow

I jumped in joy

stretch of an overarching path

Of colored scales, enchanting

I wanted to ride it high and low

But knowing the science behind

The budding curiosity lost

I used to gaze hours and hours

At the twinkling stars

Sometimes one will fall

Shoot across the timeless sky

Nothing but was miracle of darkness

Alas! Astronomy snatched away

The twinkle out of the stars

Childlike innocence and simplicity

Scared yet curious, knowing yet pondering

Canvas clean and pure

Grow beyond imaginations

Losing the simplicity and sweetness

I deny miracles happen

But yes they happen continuously

I think I just miss the exact time

But science is wondrous too - at least when you grasp that its not just a collection of 'facts'. A retention of childlike awe and wonder whilst trying to comprehend the universe makes for good science and goes someway to counter the other side of infantile naivety - superstition and religion!

This was great Prachi. I love the meaning behind this piece, if only some things still amazed us this day...perhaps love holds that key. Very nice.

The reality will stay, but we need the element of surprise to remain alive within our souls . Good Write :)

Very beautiful thoughts about the innocence of childhood.........as one grows older and gains knowledge that innocence is lost forever.Beautifully penned.

thanxxxxx... :)
It used to bug me when people tried to ruin my love of the sky by pointing out the science behind it: you've captured that nicely here.

Childhood innocence blitzed by reality, sad but true, but the light at the end of your poem gives hope. Really enjoyed this one!

I like how you end this...

"I deny miracles happen
But yes they happen continuously
I think I just miss the exact time"

That sense of awe, it's something we can hold on to if we try. At least I want to believe so!

Very well written, with great imagery. I like the way you portrayed such innocence in this piece.
" Childlike innocence and simplicity
Scared yet curious, knowing yet pondering
Canvas clean and pure
Grow beyond imaginations
Losing the simplicity and sweetness."

Well done. I look forward to reading more of your work.
