Africa

Africa

A Poem by Jvonne

Africa
I hear your song,
I feel your beat,
Ngiyakuthanda Africa
And you take me home…

Your wide open spaces,
Tseno metala legodimo,
Your rivers run strong
Your mountains stand proud.

Africa
I hear your song
I feel your beat
Ngiyakuthanda Africa
And you take me home…

The sun shines brightly on your copper field,
Your endless horizons set me free…
Your winds guide me to where the rain falls down
On the earth where you grow wild and unruly

Africa
I hear your song
I feel your beat
Ngiyakuthanda Africa
And you take me home…

In jou het ek n tuiste... Africa

Stunning... What a beautiful music that rises from your words... Africa... how she has called to people for centuries... her wonders and glory... we see these enchantments through your eyes, and know why they have journeyed to taste her wildness... Your mingling of English, Zulu, and Afrikaans breathes out a depth of her history... Ngiyabonga...

Potent and intriguing. I know Africa is a rich country full of life and promise. Although I have never been there I see pictures and hear stories of its grace and beauty.

I wish I could understand the language you've written those non-english lines in. Is it Afrikaans? It seems very unique. However, I digress. This poem somehow strikes a chord in me even though I live among the cramped populace of India. Perhaps it is ingrained in every human spirit to seek freedom in open terrain? Beautiful write, a song that is universal though referring to Africa in particular.

I have always loved story's and writings about Africa. Maybe it's because its the birthplace of civilization. The adventures we read in storybooks are incredible and I thank you for sharing this.
