I made up this riddle and have yet to find some one who can solve it can you?

I represent neither good nor evil.
People fear what i become yet desire my other half.
I am neither dark nor light yet i have many colors.
I am two very different things yet also the same.
what am i?

Many things could be represented by the first line... The second line tells me that it's something that has to do with the solid, realworld, practical side of things. The dark nor light with many colors...that one again can be many things. The part about two very different thing yet also the same, that's the line that needs to solve it, or the riddle is a bust... So...
I shall say.... my guess will be....

Money, is neither good nor evil, people fear it yet, desire it's effect, it's comes in many colors across the globe and numerous countries and it has two basic forms, coin and the paper dollar.

That's my answer... Money.
