True Reflection

True Reflection

A Poem by Rashida 'Kismet' Bryan
"

Love, Insanity, pain, Love hurts

"

It was not planned,

Never had it entered thoughts,

Infatuation two,

Obsession major.

Reflections of such a guy,

Pondering the inevitable,

Yet hunger develops for the unattained.

The untruth is ‘I will get him’,

The great terrorist of self – esteem,

Wanting the can’t get.

A model such as this was not constructed,

It came suddenly,

Obstructing the Great Plan,

The correct purpose of being on this campus,

Not to pursue the unpursuable.

Pain cuts,

Like an excellent tweezers,

From the mind,

Yet far from it.

He stares at me,

I stare back,

The reality is a dream,

The dream,

A reality?

Ahh… A brighter future stares back,

Looking relaxed,

What I want,

I will surely get.

I love how the feeling of extreme longing is open and shines through brightly here. You can see the fighting of oneself over the "I can" and "I can't" as well as the "I will" or "Will not."
