Blind

Blind

A Poem by Alex P.
"

We all walk around with our eyes closed

"

The world spins on an axis of pain,

Where the people on it view their fellows with disdain,

The children no longer run and play in the streets,

Because they’re so busy watching TV and eating sweets

The people hurry from work and then to home,

Being surrounded by others and yet feeling so alone,

Out for themselves and never once thinking

That what it means to be alive is so quickly shrinking

The water and the air are so controlled and polluted,

While researchers cover up how much of our potential is diluted,

While smiles on the street are seen as aggression,

While the world needs to make a simple confession

We’ve reached a limit,

We’re broken,

We’re falling,

We can’t climb back out,

Till we hear the angels calling

So blind by greed and media and lies,

That we forget the most important ties,

They used to say “to thine own self be true”,

But to be true to yourself,

You’ve got to figure out what the hell you have to do

A great poem with a great message...:)

I agree with you on all of the above. We are no longer consumers...we have become abusers of time...abusers of the earth...abusers of our bodies.
