Nostalgia hits today

Thoughts of records playing loudly

We said we’d marry in the hallway

Yes, memory takes me back

Standing in your doorway

              Where records play

              Where my DJ and I lay

I pray

For fond memories to stay

              Catching your eye

              Meeting in the mirror that night

              17 oranges masqueraded as lemons

              Love at first sight

              Lemon bomb technicians

 

In the back of my brain I hear Timothy Leary say “Acid is not for every brain .... Only the healthy, happy, wholesome, handsome, hopeful, humorous, high-velocity should seek these experiences. This elitism is totally self-determined. Unless you are self-confident, self-directed, self-selected, please abstain.”

                                 

Look at him you can’t refrain

Bright lights and disco balls sang

Tracers on the floor

Love at first sight

Standing at your door

 

Come in you say

You are close to perfect

I sit and watch you play

120 bpm

You are my favorite

 

Then it all started

Vinyl spinning forward, scratching back

Oh no! 17 oranges coming for us

We’re under attack

For masquerading as lemons

Yes we are tripping acid

 

White paper blotted

Looking in the mirror

Staring at you, looking back at me

My body high quivering

Screaming I want you badly

 

Tripping hard

Call the bomb squad

A lemonologist

Squeezing the fruit and freaking out

It’s really an orange you shout

 

At least tonight

We can say we survived it

The trip that started it all

Whirlwind love like records spin

This memory will never end

 

Coming down

Lying next to you

I have my breakthrough

Forever in this life

I pray it’s just us two

An author that isn't afraid to jump boundaries. Wild yet controlled. Rare poem that can be tasted on the tongue and truly enjoyed. You have a style that does more than flair. My only comment is I think the quote could have been paraphrased instead of putting the entire thing in. Other than that you really went all out and reaped a great result.
