a poem to an athiest

"So You're an Athiest"

So you're an atheist, that's up to you

Why you banging on about it, you do?

Are you trying to get me to bite?

Want me to make you see the light?

I won't cos that's your choice

I don't feel the need to voice

My beliefs and put them on you

even though my faith gets me through

Who do you seek when life is tough?

Who do you pray to when it gets rough?

One day you might need to pray

until then go on your way

not believing in anything real

it's up to you, it's the way you feel

Don't use it as an excuse to fight

Who's to say who's wrong or right?

I love you regardless of your belief

So shut your face, don't give me grief

and I'll shut mine, always will

If what Paul says in Romans 1 is true, there is ultimately no such thing as an atheist. “What can be known about God is plain to them” (v. 19), and their denial is an expression of the fact that they are among those “men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth” (v. 18). Therefore, whatever they believe about themselves, the God who made them says otherwise, and we must believe God rather than man. Great write - and I agree with the conclusion of your poetically poignant composition! :-)

Thanks for that Phil - I never trying alter anyone's beliefs but feel some people try to alter mine and it does my head in....it's almost like it's cool to believe in nothing these days - sad really :(

Jesus told His disciples that they were to preach the gospel to everyone. Where they were received with joy, they should stay and teach. But where their message was rejected, they had no further responsibility. They were free to walk away with a clear conscience, knowing they had done all they could do. Sometimes you just have to 'shake the dust off your feet' and move on! Bless you ...

It's difficult you feel like you should spread the good news but it can lead to people accusing you of being mad! I'm not shy about sharing the fact I believe but I never ram it down people's throats - I have a friend that tries to convert everyone but only ends up alienating people, it's a shame - thanks for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated, God Bless
