To Live

in your eyes I see

the lights of one thousand stars

bursting to life

in you smile I see

your understanding

at ground level

in your heart I feel

the pleasure or the outward flow

like a waterfall

existing only to replenish

in your passing by

your backwards smirk

your rolling laughter

I see you let it all - everything,

you let it go as the moment passes

as your head tilts up to watch

the clear blue sky

for no other reason but to remind yourself

it is there

for all of this

I smile with you

for I know,

you my friend

have truly lived

as I dare

to truly live, this life, too

1st line second stanza i read as "your smile"---
i see almost envy here as one friend sees her opposite...the one who takes risks in life...smells the roses but also picks them...as she watches...waiting for the courage to embrace life rather than waiting for it to come to her.
we often need to be "dared"---nicely expressed.

This has such an air of joy and breathing fresh air as a contented protagonist and contented subject seem to both meet as equals with respect and love for one another. I could envisage one looking lovingly at the other as they think the words in the poem.

ah great - that's what I was aiming for - as I get older joy sees to spring ups quite easily and I seem to be able to let all the other stuff pass with the moment like it is supposed to (no always mind you - but I keep practising)
