Unnoticed

Unnoticed

A Poem by KWP

all of the air, I
gift to you,
so as your breath lives on
forever

you breathe too easily
as my gift remains unseen

darling, the depth
of my love
passes the last star, and yet
you cannot fathom
just how far I'd fly for you

the flick of a switch
will turn you on, but
what then darling
when there is no initial spark

unrelenting, I gift you this spark
to light our fire,
instead you use the flame
for your first inhale of your
cigarette

naive in a love unrequited
I do not blame you
for you have never known
a diamond from a piece of glass

The bitterness behind this one is almost palpable. The last two verses are especially devastating. It is indeed hard to wake the dead.
