There is Light In the Shadows

There is Light In the Shadows

A Poem by KWP
"

My lifelong friend will depart soon - he has last stage brain cancer - this is for him <3

"
the shadows have caught up to you
shining light about fade
moments among us
serendipitous
you, the unexpected pot of gold
journey completed with grace
bundled in undivided love
we thank you for the lessons
you are pure joy
fear not the new path
you were always a pioneer
leave a light on
will will catch you up
some time soon

So hard to say goodbye to life long friends. Every line here confirms how much he is loved. Yes, you will miss him terribly, but what a joy he has been. Hard to come across friends like that. My thoughts are with you. Sorry you are facing such a difficult challenge KWP.

So sorry to hear about your friend. We, too, have recently lost two good friends to stage 4 glioblastoma. Once this is discovered, it is only a short time until death. It is a hard knowledge. But I'm glad you met this person who was so important in your life. Unfortunately, that makes the letting go that much harder. All my best wishes and sincerest condolences.

Check the second to last line.

Cancer steal the best from us. Wonderful and kind words shared for your friend. We must spend time with the good people we had shared life and time with. Thank you my friend for sharing your amazing words and your thoughts.

I love this . . . one of the best "goodbyes" I've ever read mostly becuz it's not one. There are too many ways you've honored your friend here, to mention each sparkling instance, but in particular I love how your overall message suggests life will live on & I believe it does, if it's meant to. Some deaths end a long weird journey & the person is out of mind as soon as they take their last breath . . . others go on & on for years after death, just as you've described here. Killer ending, so matter-of-face! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Everything lasts forever as long as you think about it.

Yeah I figured that one 😊
I found myself reading this and sadly humming Mary Hopkin's song "Goodbye"---
Cancer is so devastating. that an ALS....
It is like the William Blake poem "the sick rose"---
"leave a light on, we will be looking for you when it is our time"---
love "the journey completed with grace"---

Gee
So sad...beautifully written.
Tis the most common form of cancer in children I'm led to believe.
My eldest brother survived brain cancer, diagnosed 20 years ago. My best mates daughter survived too, diagnosed aged 14 :(. Now 27, married with a baby boy. Penned a poem about her wedding day a while back :)
Hope you are keeping well. Did you divorce me ?
