Blue

Blue

A Poem by Kat

I wanted to breathe you in like morning glories

Your scent echoed and crumbled the walls of my possessing heart

I swam in the rivers of your flowing words and fought until I ended up on the distant bank

Steadily breathing all the way through your veins

Tunnels with love and hate and our inner beasts

That could only be tamed by each gentle hello in the still morning

Mornings where I’d lay inside you watching time pass as patterns inked across the sky

Like trails left behind by jet engines that had flown galaxies away by the time you took your first breath into this world we created

This kingdom where you’d laugh and cry

High on love in this kingdom

Autumn collided and the moment your leaves wilted I wept

The floor could accompany the shriveled brown matter for only so long before it died itself

I still see your hand wave goodbye

So terrible and beautiful

You knew how it would pull at the strings of my heart

Creating an uneven melody to stand still in the tainted air

But I’ll wait until the grass smells like you again

When the rain surrounds you in a blanket of tranquility

You always loved it there….

The imagery here, in "watching time pass as patterns inked across the sky" and "trails left behind by jet engines that had flown galaxies away," paints such a beautiful picture that really adds to this piece.

I'm so glad you've added more on here and I can't wait to read more that you add.
