I Set My Friends On Fire

A poem i wrote in my creative writing class. This isn't my best work, but it was a freewrite and i thought i'd show you what came to my mind XD

Here I stood

Stunned and shocked

The thoughts were unstoppable

They couldn’t be blocked.

Blood splattered the walls

Flames licking at my feet

They tried to defend themselves

But my rage couldn’t be beat.

How could they do this?

How could they betray me?

Their eyes were staring now

But they could not see.

I shook as I stood

Watched as they burned

I knew I had no choice

They betrayed me every corner I turned.

This is not me

This was not my desire

But I knew it had to be done

I had to set my friends on fire.

I walked away from the ones I loved

Knowing I had done my role

The monster in me roared

        It had taken control.
