Two Worlds

Two Worlds

A Poem by Karissa A. Kelly
"

The formation of my self, my image and my identity has been an uphill battle. Pushing back against what is widely accepted is the reason I am who I am and how I view the world as put in my art.

"

One for the rest

One all my own

Crafted by wrest

Turmoil, the inside never known.

Burnt in the heart in my chest

Formation in the marrow of bone

Defiant of the behest

Orders from the wonted throne.

What’s mine, It will detest

The world ruled by quotidian moan

Measures of prevention put, lest

Deviation interrupt the perpetual drone.

See it in how I’m dressed

Hear it in my voice’s tone

Others’ comfort I congest

By an expression of stone.

Ne’er will I divest

The labored fabric I’ve sown

My self stands time’s test

I remain to stand alone.
