Old Oak Tree

Old Oak Tree

A Poem by Kate Henderson

Alone it stands
In a suspect moor
Tall and grand
Overlooking the ground
Green luscious leaves
Litter its boughs
No fruits to be seen
Its wisdom is rich
A vast wrinkled trunk
The anchor of life
Time passes things by
Except the Old Oak Tree
Lost in memory
Of an old reverie

This made me think of a tree close to my grandmother's house. I used to sit under it daily as a child to read or write. Thanks for bringing that memory back to me. Nicely done.

Thank you for your kind review! Glad it brought back some nice memories :)
If poems could buy six packs this one would be forking out the cash and throwing you the frothies in 10 seconds.

It's a solid 10/10.

I didn't realise that a tree could be written about in such vivid and detail. It felt to as if the tree had many stories to be told.

Tall and grand, overlooking the ground - vivid use of words.

Mark.
