Confession

Confession

A Poem by Kathleen Pastrana
"

This poem is about having the courage to put into writing feelings that we're too afraid to say out loud.

"

The possibility of a confession

hung in the air,

I could feel it in my fingertips.

We could've been brave, right then,

right there,

but fear of your reaction

held back my lips.

The secret I could never tell

haunted me in my slumber,

followed me as I fell

captive to the spell of that October

evening.

I could have told you in the car,

oblivious to the moment passing

but I haven't got a quark

of confidence to start talking.

So in this poem I shall confess,

the string of words I've kept the longest

and the secret I've been dying to tell,

is I'm in love with you, Hernel.

I loved the flow here! We are indeed afraid of voicing the thoughts we so often feel. Good work!

I really enjoyed the rhyme scheme. Your poem flowed very nicely. All except the last line you could very easily relate to anything that you are to scared to tell some one. Well done, i rather enjoyed this. Thank you.

Awwww, so sweet! Thanks for sharing this gorgeous poem. I guess most of us can relate to fearing the reaction of a loved one with our confessions of love... You've done a great job with this! Keep it up. :)

Kathleen, it's a great poem. To say I love you takes so much courage, the fear of rejection. Once it's there, hanging in the air, adrenaline hazed, and the worries of what he will say, is more than bravery, it is a confession. I love the metaphoric use of confession in this way; it's like we've done something wrong, to fearful to say for the repercussions. Just a gorgeous writing. Well done. Thank you so very much. Dale

great writing Kathleen, you had me hanging on the outcome and what could be so terrible that you struggled to confess, so that beautiful moment of revelation at the end was as satisfying as it was surprising bravo Kathleen :)

Such a wonderful description of not being able to profess our love face to face... i felt the anxiety and the build-up of emotions; the overwhelming sensation that one might burst... and you are right, it is oft' times easier to say in words what our lips are unable to say. Beautiful!

Very impressive poem. I do agree with you that it's way hard to speak through feelings but quite easy to put 'em down in words, speaking aloud. Beautifully pen'd up!

This is incredibly well written, I have to admit. Usually I'm a little hard to impress but this is exceptional. Well done in every aspect.
