The four noble truths: a butterfly's perspective

The four noble truths: a butterfly's perspective

A Poem by Tina

I float through the sky, inhale deeply, spring in the air, lush grass and a pebbled path far below. The wind catches my wing and I soar sharply to the left. Claiming no path, I am not thrown off course. Exhilarating! The world is mine and I the world's. Rich, vibrant, flavorful: home.

Sunrise, sunset

I flutter passed a familiar path, oak trees to my left and right, over a sturdy bridge, trickling stream below. A robust honeysuckle vine now in full view. Excitement wells up in my chest and I flutter faster towards it: up, down, up, down, as a pleasant breeze rushes towards me. Creamy white, soothing yellow, gentle sweetness hangs in the air. Petals soft beneath my feet. Eyes closed, engulfed in their aroma, the sun's gentle warmth caresses my face: Bliss. As I flutter among the honeysuckles, I know this is where life is, this is where I belong.

Sunrise, sunset

Basking in my field of honeysuckles, every moment pure delight, the rains compound their glory.

Sunrise, sunset

It's later in the morning then I expected. Yesterday wasn't as long as the day before and I suspect today will be shorter still. Rushed, I flutter passed a familiar path, oak trees to my left and right, over a sturdy bridge, barren streambed below, dried up from the sun's harsh rays. My honeysuckle vine is now in full view. Alarm wells up in my chest and I flutter towards it faster: up, down, up, down, a strong breeze barrels against me. Dull white, hint of yellow. Is their sweetness still in the air? Petal after petal fall beneath my feet. Eyes squeezed shut, engulfed in distressed.

Sunrise, sunset

At summer's end and my haven is dwindling, shriveling before me.

Sunrise, sunset

The days are short and cold, the leaves of my haven bare. Surely, I was mistaken. No answer had I ever found.

Sunrise, sunset

I float through the sky, inhale deeply, spring in the air, lush green grass and a pebbled path far below me. The wind catches my wing and I soar sharply to the left. Claiming no path, I am not thrown off course. Exhilarating! A robust honeysuckle vine is in full view, as is, I now notice, a pebbled path. Knowingness settles within me as I flutter past a familiar path, oak trees to my left and right, over a sturdy bridge, trickling stream below. My eyes soak in the pebbled path as I flutter along: straight, genuine, sincere. The sun's gentle warmth caresses my face. I land and settle down beneath the bodhi tree.

About
I've always found the "about me" section confining and flat. How to sum up one's essence in a few lines of descriptive text? But no matter: I find clarity in nature and lightning storms sooth my soul.. more..
