My Fairy Tales

My Fairy Tales

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

A journey to the fairy-land.

"

Just in love with solitude,

I kept gazing through the window's eye.

So short in time my mind travelled,

And I was there in a Fairy-land.

Up above was like the heaven gate,

Down below was like the pit of hell.

I saw myself levitating in the air,

And all around me was nothingness.

“Where is the blue sky?” I asked myself,

Even the green plants were just nowhere.

Music, shout, and merriment,

Were all replaced with quietness.

I shouted aloud but all in vain,

Even my voice, I couldn’t hear.

The more I tried the more I failed,

So, I stood still in bewilderment.

While in thought of where I am,

Here came this kaleidoscope of butterflies.

Glowing as they flew around me,

Making me to forget my mysteries.

I felt amazed and eased in mind,

As they made me to dance around,

To the soundless song the silence sang,

And I was carried away by its rhythm rhymes.

“Bang!” as the door would always shout,

My little brother brought me back,

Less than a second all were gone,

And all the fairies disappeared.

Oh my God! I asked my bro.

“Why do you have to bring me back?”

So, I tried to go back to the world.

But there I went another land.

Imagination is beautiful. And I like it when I'm deep in thought. It takes me to where I've never been and takes me to places that never existed anywhere in the world and makes me know more.

When I have been writing too many intense pieces that are making some strong point, then I look for writing a poem that takes me to some whimsical places of nonsensical fun & merriment. I find it interesting how your description of an imaginary place is not based on thick full descriptions of things we usually associate with paradise from an earthly point of view. Mostly, it's about not being disturbed, not having any distractions, enjoying solitude & quiet. That is exactly what I love about living near wilderness as I do! Love your unexpected breath of fresh air ideas about an imaginary place to feel content (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
