Striving For Nothing.

Striving For Nothing.

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

...

"
Striving to live in the exposure to death,
Men trying to climb up the slope of hell.
Drops of tears, rivers of sweat,
Hearts cracking through the flows of fear.
Phobia of dreads, scariness in tense,
Men running away, just to nowhere.
Right to the left, dusk till dawn,
Mysteries keep pushing a lot to them.

Death sit in a place far yet near,
Watching the unrest mankind running for nothing,
Sheol lies in wait, smiling with contempt.
With it's eagle eye stuck on humanity.
"Let's not be in haste," they told themselves,
"Let's not be too quick to end their suffering."
But men, blindfolded with infinite hope,
Keep fighting only to catch the whirlwind.

and humanity stuck in a violent state...
our Eagle is diving not for prey but to hide.
it doesn't want to be a symbol that represents so much hate and violence.
i see that here in this poem...the fear, the phobias
men running...men and women with frozen faces, lying on the ground faces with puzzled expression
as the life bleeds out of them.

A relative haunt of read and though negative it is so well constructed - -- a fearsome picture you penned here Kay.

Thank you very much, Fay.

this is a fitfully frightening post .. and so reminiscent of an ancient religious mural I have seen on the wall of an equally old monastery in central Bulgaria.. depicting Mans descent into hell .. there are of course modern 21 century equivalent images that fit the bill too.... in spite of that, I enjoyed your poem my friend........... I think it is dark and appears to represernt the terrible things done on this planet to other human beings by their own but that purgatory awaits them but in the meantime they continue to bomb Syria and Yemen and Kashmir and Kurdistan and Sudan etc
