Tomorrow

Tomorrow

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

...

"
Vision blurred by the present fog,
With future that seems forever blunt.
Hope hung on the swing of obscurity,
With mind dazed with uncertain thought.
Here we are in the mystery of what to come,
Stuck in the conundrum of the muzzy world.

The future obscured by the present - its an interesting one. We can spend so long needlessly worrying about things we an't control. This is a good thought provoker :) Laura

Thank you so much, Laura.
I'm really grateful for this lovely review.
I was just reading an article about Greta Thunberg and her recent speech to world leaders. She told them they had stolen her dreams and her childhood in being so unconcerned about environmental issues. Your poem just seemed to fit with that message right now, though I know yours has a more personal application.

But I do think a lot of people feel this way at this stage in history. There’s a lot of uncertainty about the future, and, for young people especially, I think it’s difficult to know what there will be to work with as the years wear on. I know my teen-aged daughter feels anxiety about what the future will bring.

I really enjoyed your brevity in this, Kay. Some messages are best offered in smaller packages so that every line can be felt. You’ve done that well here. And I love that word muzzy, it’s got a feeling which translates nicely through your message.

Wow!
Thank you so much much, Eilis.
I'm really grateful for that wonderful review.
Love the word choices as they display that 'stuck' quality many of us find ourselves in when we feel uncertain and inadequate and lost.

Thank you for your wonderful review, John.
this is so true...a "muzzy" fuzzy world that just seems more and more uncertain each day.

We seems to be trapped in the unknown, just blindly following life.

Sometimes the fog can be a blessing, especially when other people's tomorrows are all too clear and display a world you'd rather not see. I'm thinking happiness in rose tinted specs. That's where you took me Kay.

Thank you for your thoughtful response, Chris.
I really appreciate that.
I enjoyed the read, thanks for sharing your take on tomorrow. The idea of not being able to see ahead of ourselves, that we are walking into the fog blinded by our hopes, that certainly seems to be the unfortunate conclusion of the present.

Thank you, R.J.
I really appreciate your understanding of this piece.
I've never been one to focus on a sharp vision of the future, since life always serves up something very different than anything I ever imagine. That's why I believe you present fog & obscurity, not in a haunting way, but more matter-of-fact . . . here it is, real life, it's just a big fuzzy mystery! "Muzzy" is a new word for me & I love it. "Conundrum" is also an old favorite word of mine, so that last line feels great the way the words roll along. As an old person, I can say that life often looks scrambled as we go thru it, but then later on, looking back, it's amazing to see the embedded patterns & purposes that were evident all along, but all we were seeing was the fog (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It is, Neville.
Thank you for your wonderful review.
This one sounds like an apt description of the world at this time. Vision does seem blurred by fog of different kinds, primarily ignorance, hatred and greed. What is to come is indeed a mystery, but one can only hope that, as before, we'll somehow muddle our way through it.
