A Letter To Her

A Letter To Her

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

...

"
I'm here at the corner of my room
looking at my shadow staring at me.
So quiet like a desolated jungle
hearing the echo of my own heartbeats.

Looking straight out through the window
I can see the stars dancing around the moon.
This dark sky continue to glow and glow
forgotten this lonely bride without a groom.

Smiling with tears running down my cheek
I couldn't resist the tension of your memories
I wish you were here to see this with me
Though you were gone but not forgotten.

This offering is heavy with grief. We don't know if the departed is only temporarily gone or has left this life, but the effect on the speaker seems so profound that I suspect the latter. The stars in their brightness present a contrast to the overall mood, which is understandably somber. Time alone can heal a wound such as this.

Heartfelt sentiment expressed here in these lines Kay. I picked up on grief and loneliness, without the one who meant so much and is gone. Nicely penned, moving poem.

This is the most spontaneous & loose & expressive that I've ever seen you write! I've probably commented about how you are often intelligent & analytical, but also you try to be passionately persuasive as to whatever point you're trying to make. This poem departs largely from what I remember seeing from you. I love how you are simply telling it from the heart here . . . done so creatively, with such gracefully connected imagery taken from the night skies . . . you pour out a simple heartfelt experience of missing someone . . . and without a bunch of drama, more like this narrator is accepting that this other person cannot be there. It's so uncomplicated & that's what I love about it. Yet, highly fresh & original as all your writing is (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Just read 'A letter to her'
You described the state of mind of a lover.... Whose lonely feelings searching for her in the darkness of night... Though separated but United in thoughts...
Well written

This is so sweet. There are many people in my life who are gone but definitely not forgotten.

Such is what memories deposit in us.
I'm glad you could relate, Kari.
I do understand this poem my friend.

I did like the above lines. Most of my nights, old minds seeking places gone. Thank you for sharing the amazing words and your thoughts.

I liked this poem and you are welcome my friend.
A seemingly very melancholy write as the protagonist lays alone 'pining' for someone lost to them. You capture the moment in that space alone with the nightscape for company Kay.

You're right, John.
We all at a time remember someone we love.
